I certainly see the same problems as you here but if you bring down the government in a country, let’s say the US, the next morning you’ll have the best conditions for all the parasites and psychopaths to come to the fore. In the vacuum of power you’ll see MS-13, the Cribs, the mexican cartels, corporations, armed evangelicals, KKK, Abraham Vereide‘s "Family", neo-nazies and antifas, Putin, etc etc. And these folks won’t have even an ounce of concern about you and they wouldn’t have any obligation, formal or otherwise, to give a f*ck about you. When governments fall what you get is governments but way worse. And forget any hope of a coherent response to climate change or pollution—neither top-down, nor bottom-up. In the ensuing chaos the last things that would have success would be these kinds of green progressive movements—people will be drawn to/and captured by conflicts.

Now i’m rooting for decentralized platforms offering smart contracts to take off, but as a way of by-passing the banking system, amazon, ebay, facebook, etc, _not_ the government. It remains to be seen just how big a role would government have in a descentralized economy, but without some centralization the world would be engulfed by chaos and mayhem. Some starry eyed bitcoiner was talking about "private police forces" to which "people would have to subscribe for protection". Just wow, the share naivety :)) Although, to be honest i believe we might just have to go through all forms of idiocy, explore Hell itself perhaps, until society matures itself enough to not fall for these things anymore.
